The Island Dance and Theatre Company is a friendly, fun and exciting dance school, and has an excellent reputation with high standards and strives to provide the best dance training in a supportive and friendly environment.
The best gift you could give your child is confidence and self-esteem. These are the characteristics needed to be successful in life. Dance is a wonderful way to develop these!
We are trained in technique, theory, anatomy and safe practice and we will assist your child with good posture, self-awareness, discipline, body fitness, goal setting, personal friendship and self-esteem and they will grow in confidence throughout their dancing years!
In April 2009, The Island Dance and theatre Company opened with 15 pupils. Now the school boasts over 110 pupils, from babies up to 60 years old and firmly believes that anybody should have the chance to dance.

The principal, Linda Smith, is very well qualified in all aspects of performing, and a member of The International Dance teachers Association and The Royal Academy of Dance – two of the world’s leading dance examination boards.
Charlotte and Linda regularly attend conferences and seminars for their own continued professional development, and to keep up to date with new trends in the dance world. They are both Enhanced CRB checked, First Aiders and have Public Liability Insurance in place, and are happy to reassure parents and provide evidence of these upon request. They are trained in technique, theory, anatomy and safe practice for your child’s well-being.
Charlotte and Linda are also very proud to be producers of shows in the West End of London and Disneyland Paris. They believe that all children and adults alike should have the once in a lifetime chance to perform on a world stage and develop to their full potential regardless of their class, age and ability and be able to experience the pride that many people take for granted. They realise the importance of giving opportunities to not just young performers but everyone who loves to perform, including special need and the older generation.

“We have worked extremely hard to become the dance teachers we are, but we will never forget all the fun and enjoyment we have experienced along the way. We hope your child will have a similar experience to ours and we will endeavour to make sure this happens! You have to work hard to become a successful dancer, but there is no point if we forget the main reason we dance – and that is to get fit, enjoy ourselves, make new friends and have fun!”
